A Message from the Honourable Coralee Oakes
Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development
Team BC preparation is well under way and athletes, coaches and staff are getting ready to rock the 2015 Canada Winter Games next month in Prince George. For years, anticipation has been building around the 2015 Canada Winter Games and grows stronger day by day, stoked by the flame of the Canada Games Torch making its way through northern B.C. Now the wait is almost over.
The Games celebrate sport and youth in B.C., with the enthusiastic support of the Prince George Host Society, engaged communities, dynamic sports organizations, dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors. The event showcases high performance sport, capturing the attention and imagination of citizens from coast to coast to coast in a nation-building moment of pride and celebration.
Team BC will take centre stage as the home team for the Games. I am so proud of you – and I know British Columbians will be rooting for your success in every competition.
I want to thank everyone involved with Team BC – provincial sport organizations, athletes, coaches, supporters and parents, too – for being part of this great national sports event. As athletes, you have worked hard to share in the honour of representing British Columbia.
The Government of British Columbia is proud to be a major supporter of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. On behalf of Premier Christy Clark, I wish each and every one of you all the best.
This is your time to shine.
Go Team BC!
Sincerely,
Coralee Oakes
Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development
