Kurt Innes - Chef de Mission

Kurt has made rich contributions to provincial, national, and international high-performance sport through a career spanning more than 30-years. As a 1992 Olympian, multiple time Canadian Cycling Champion, two-time recipient of the Coaching Association of Canada Coaching Excellence award, and most recently as the Director, Performance Solutions with the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific), Kurt has achieved excellence as an athlete, coach, and administrator. In his current role at CSI Pacific, Kurt works with National Sport Organizations to develop sport science and sport medicine performance solutions that will propel Canadian National Team athletes and coaches to success on the global stage. Kurt’s ties to Team BC and the BC Games run deep, as he has been a Team BC Mission Staff member on two occasions, served as a Team BC coach, and acted as the BC Games Mentorship Program Master Coach Mentor since 2020.
 

     
 

Heather Beatty - Assistant Chef de Mission

Heather has worked in the BC sport system for ten years and this is her second time on Team BC Mission staff. She is currently the Director of Sport Development at viaSport where she works closely with Provincial Sport Organizations to build capacity of the sport system. Prior to viaSport, Heather worked at Curl BC as the high performance and competitions manager. She enjoys yoga, running, curling and dragon boating in her spare time.  

     
 

Jarret Poitras - Operations Manager

As the Team BC Operations Manager for the BC Games Society, Jarret organizes and manages operational and logistical matters for Team BC, as well as provides support for the BC Summer and BC Winter Games.  Jarret works closely with the leadership and coaching staff for each of the PSOs that compete in the Games to enhance preparation and oversee administrative matters.  

Jarret has previously worked with Rowing Canada, Camosun College, PacificSport Victoria, and the University of Ballarat (Australia).  He was the Assistant Manager of the national rowing team at the 2008 Olympic Summer Games, as well as Mission Staff for the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games and the 2013 Canada Summer Games, and Operations Manager for the 2015 Canada Winter Games and 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. His passion is volleyball - he played varsity indoor volleyball for the University of Victoria and was a Team BC athlete in beach volleyball.

     
  David Conlin - Communications Manager

David joined the BC Games Society as the Marketing and Communications Manager in May of 2022. He is responsible for developing and executing on the BC Games Society and Team BC marketing and communications plans.

A graduate of Western University, David has a wealth of experience in the world of amateur sports in Canada. He has worked in the athletic communications departments at Western University, the University of Victoria, and the University of Saskatchewan. Most recently, he served as Communications Officer at the Global Institute for Food Security in Saskatoon. His first Canada Games experience was in Niagara in August, 2022.
