Long track speed skater Victoria (Tori) Spence of Kamloops started Team BC's medal collection at the 2011 Canada Winter Games Saturday by winning a Bronze medal in the 1000m. 

Chanting "Who Rocks The House", 341 members of Team BC marched into Halifax Metro Centre Friday to the cheers of a full house of spectators, dignitaries and fellow Canada Winter Games participants from across the country. 

A dozen Prince George athletes and five coaches or managers will be attending the 2011 Canada Winter games, which run Feb. 11 to Feb. 27.

An official send-off for locals headed to the Canada Winter Games showed that Kamloops is proud of its athletes, coaches and officials -- and that Kamloops has a lot of which to be proud. Carolynn Boomer, general manager of PacificSport, kicked off the celebration, held in the lobby of the Tournament Capital Centre.
