Up in the Air

Women’s Basketball BC team member Azalya Forstbauer had never been on an airplane before the Team BC charter flight left Vancouver, B.C. for the Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, A.B. on Thursday August 6, 2015.  A native of Keremeos and current resident of Chilliwack, Azalya says her parents have been on airplanes but neither she nor her three siblings have ever flown.

“I’m probably going to brag to my older brother that I’ve been on a plane before him,” she giggled.

Forstbauer said she wasn’t nervous at all – in fact, was excited. “It was kind of like a really fast car,” she said. The flight was mostly smooth, with some slight turbulence. Being surrounded by over 400 of her friends and Team BC teammates made for a unique and thrilling first flight experience.

Azalya took an aisle seat for her first flight, but said she’ll try to snag a window seat on the flight home. And as for where her next flight will take her – “hopefully to somewhere hot!”
