Trampoline athletes get their first taste of action
By Drew Todd, Team BC Mission Staff
Sunday featured trampoline’s first ever day of training at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Since its inception, artistic gymnastics has been a part of the Games, but this is the inaugural Games where the trampoline discipline will be included as a separate event.
Two male and two female gymnasts make up Team BC’s trampoline team. On the men’s side, Kyle Carragher (Port Coquitlam) and Curtis Gerein (Kelowna) are looking to get to the top of podium. The women’s side consists of Emily Schmidt (Kamloops) and Poppy Quinlan (Maple Ridge), who was a late replacement for Jane Harrigan (New Westminster), after Harrigan suffered a devastating injury a week prior to the start of the Games.
Competition gets underway Tuesday with the single’s event taking place. The team event will commence on Wednesday.
