Team BC seeking volunteer Mission Staff for Québec 2027 Canada Winter Games

Applications are now open to join BC’s Mission Staff team for the 2027 Canada Winter Games

Team BC is seeking enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced leaders to serve as volunteer Mission Staff for the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City, Quebec. The submission deadline is Friday, March 13 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Every four years, British Columbia assembles a team of athletes, coaches, managers, and Mission Staff to represent the province at Canada’s premier multi-sport events – the Canada Summer Games and Canada Winter Games. They represent the best in BC and are known as Team BC.

The 2027 Canada Winter Games will be held February 26 – March 15. The Games will bring together over 3,500 athletes, coaches, managers, and officials from every province and territory in Canada. Team BC athletes and coaches are the best in their age group in our province and the Canada Games are a key development opportunity toward future national and international competitions and multi-sport events. They are positive role models to British Columbians and inspire youth to be physically active and lead healthy lifestyles.

As part of Team BC, Mission Staff help BC athletes and coaches have the experience of a lifetime and will work to ensure that all aspects of Team BC’s preparation, including athlete and coach services and support (information sharing, media relations, registration, logistics, etc.) are in place for successful team performances. Mission Staff strive to take care of all the distractions so that athletes and coaches can focus on preparation and competition.

Mission Staff will be supported by the following Team BC Leadership Team members:

  • Chef de Mission – Eron Main
  • Assistant Chef de Mission – Brianna Davey
  • Senior Manager of Team BC – Jarret Poitras
  • Senior Manager – Marketing & Communications – David Conlin

We are seeking qualified individuals in the following areas:

  • Sport Liaisons – up to 12 positions
  • Communications – up to 5 positions
  • Special Events – up to 2 positions

Qualified candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • a passion for sport and a desire to have a direct impact on the experience of Canada’s best athletes and coaches;
  • at least 5 years working and/or volunteering in sport or a similar setting;
  • previous experience as an athlete or coach would be an asset;
  • strong communication and administration skills;
  • strong interpersonal skills, a true team player, and desire to help others;
  • Strong time and priority management skills, ability to meet deadlines and respond to communications in a timely manner;
  • a strong understanding of BC’s amateur sport system;
  • the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced multi-sport environment;
  • the ability to operate independently and in a team atmosphere;
  • comfortable working long hours for 18-20 straight days and in stressful situations that require quick decision-making;
  • the confidence to perform functions and duties outside of your assignment.

Applicants must be a resident of BC for the duration of the Games, starting from the application process through to the post-Games debrief.


Time Commitment

Mission Staff should be prepared to attend all pre-Games meetings and events as well as the full duration of the Games. The following are mandatory dates for all Mission Staff to attend:
