Team BC boasts two top 10 finishes in giant slalom
By Julianne Zussman, Team BC Mission Staff
Two Team BC skiers completed the challenging giant slalom course at Purden Mountain today. Asher Jordan (North Vancouver) and Kasper Woolley (Squamish) secured important flag points for Team BC, finishing fourth and ninth respectively. Jordan was only 0.05 seconds shy of the podium in a giant slalom course event in which only 35 of the 63 racers completed both runs. Team BC Chef de Mission Rob Needham was at the hill cheering on Team BC with Assistant Chef de Mission Michelle Collens.
“It was incredible to see B.C.’s alpine and para-alpine athletes in action. It was a tremendously challenging course, and I’m extremely proud of the way the team raced today, they showed guts and commitment,” said Needham.
Tomorrow all alpine skiers are competing in slalom events at Purden Mountain. Team BC is starting to get their rhythm and will stay focused, one run at a time. Catch them in action throughout the day as first runs begin at 9 a.m. and second runs at 1 p.m.
