Team BC had another great day at the Charles Jago Sports Centre with five of their seven athletes bringing home medals. Cheered on by a packed house of fans, Jeff Swadden of Abbotsford (+100kg), Braxton Clark of Nanaimo (-90kg), and Megan Hanks of Kamloops (-78kg) took home bronze medals, while Kelsey Painter of Campbell River (+78kg) and Tavis Jamieson of Delta (-100kg) earned silver.
“We couldn’t be happier for all the kids today,” said head coach Bruce Kamstra. “They were up against some tough competition and they definitely gave it everything they had.”
Saturday is the final day of competition where the athletes will compete in team event. Ontario and Quebec are expected to be power houses, but Team BC is ready to push for one final medal of the Games. Competition starts at 1 p.m. at the Charles Jago Sports Centre.
