Team BC athletes arrive in Red Deer

Today marked arrival day for Team BC athletes competing in week one sports at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Over 120 athletes travelled to Red Deer, Alta. today, set to take on the rest of Canada in this 27th edition of the Canada Games.

 

For many, the road to the Canada Games started with a trip to the BC Winter or BC Summer Games which are the first multisport experience for young athletes in British Columbia and an important stepping stone to competitions like the Canada Games and ultimately the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

 

Week one sports include:

  • Artistic Swimming
  • Biathlon
  • Boxing
  • Freestyle Skiing
  • Gymnastics
  • Men’s Hockey
  • Ringette
  • Long Track Speed Skating
  • Short Track Speed Skating
  • Table Tennis
  • Wheelchair Basketball

Team BC at the 2019 Canada Games 

Team BC is ready to take on the best athletes in the country at the 2019 Canada Winter Games which open in Red Deer on Feb. 15. 251 athletes, 46 coaches, 29 managers and technical support staff, and 23 mission staff make up Team BC and will proudly represent British Columbia at the Games. Competition will take place in 21 sports against teams from Canada’s 13 provinces and territories.
