Squash BC names eight athletes to Team BC for 2015 Canada Winter Games
Squash BC is pleased to announce the athletes named to Team BC for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. The Games will be held in Prince George from February 13 – March 1, 2015 with Squash being contested in Week 2 from February 23 – March 1.
The following athletes will be representing British Columbia at the Games:
Men U19 Team:
Matthew Toth (Richmond, Shawnigan Lake School)
Gavin Maxwell (Victoria, Cedar Hill Squash Club)
Men U17 Team:
Ryan Picken (Vancouver, Shawnigan Lake School)
Nicolas Vincent (Victoria, Cedar Hill Squash Club)
Women U19 Team:
Michele Garceau (Surrey, Cornell University)
Janel Gaube (Victoria, Dartmouth College)
Women U17 Team:
Grace Thomas (Victoria, St. Michaels University School)
Andrea Toth (Richmond, Sport Central)
Coaches:
Ben Uliana (Victoria)
Rebecca Vassilakakis (Castlegar)
Matthew Toth of Richmond is looking forward to playing in front of a BC crowd. He said about being named to the team, “It’s a big deal and I’m very excited. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Since squash is not in the Olympics, a chance to play in a multi-sport Games is very exciting.”
Matthew will be joined by his younger sister Andrea Toth who will also compete for Team BC. Matthew said, “It’s pretty cool to be competing with my sister. She is younger than me so it’s great for her to get named to the team. It will be fun to be there together.”

About the Canada Winter Games
The Canada Games are a national multi-sport competition with participation from every province and territory in Canada. The Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer and are a key step in the development of Canada’s amateur athletes. The 2015 Canada Winter Games will be held in Prince George, bringing together approximately 3,300 athletes, coaches, and managers from every province and territory to compete in 19 sports.
