Rostam Turner takes gold in decathlon

Decathlon is comprised of  combination of ten track and field events.  Points are awarded for each event, culminating in a ten-event total.   The events include discus throw, pole vault, high jump, shot put, 100m, 400m, 1500m, Javelin throw, 110m hurdles and long jump
 
Rostam Turner, a decathlon athlete from Kelowna B.C. Turner had seven  personal bests during the Western Canada Summer Games in personal bests in discus, pole vault, high jump, shot put, 100m and long jump.  Turner finished the competition with a total of 7113 points and claiming the gold medal.

Turner explains his time at the Games has been great and enjoys competing.

“My favorite part about the Games is that you aren’t competing with each other you are competing with the sport” says Turner.

He mentions that discus is his favorite event to compete in and predicts he will do well in the future events at future games.
