It was a medal haul for Team BC on Wednesday at the 2015 Canada Winter Games with Team BC bringing home 14 medals.  Impressive results today have Team BC with 63 medals overall, placing the team third in the medal standings behind Quebec and Ontario.

Giving up not an option for B.C.’s Laass

Even as things were going black for Lavanna Laass, her last thought was that she would never give up. 

The 18-year-old Team BC Judo athlete from Prince George was choked out in the gold medal match at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, something she had never experienced before. 

“I came into this match going for gold,” she said. “I really, really wanted it, not just for myself but for everyone who was there with me and for Prince George.”

Double bronze in badminton for B.C.

B.C.’s badminton team earned two bronze medals on Wednesday in the finals at the Canada Winter Games. 

The team of Duncan Yao (19, Richmond) and Joshua Liu (18, Vancouver) battled their way to the podium in the bronze medal match of the men’s doubles, beating team Manitoba in three sets. 

Surrey’s James Ho, 17, also won bronze in the men’s individual match. 

Prince George figure skater earns bronze and contributes to four medal day at the rink

In the figure skating competition at the Canada Winter Games today, Team BC wowed the local crowd and won four medals.
