Six athletes and five coaches who previously competed for Team BC at the Canada Games or at the BC Games are part of Canada's contingency at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Team BC Alumni Leave Their Mark on Tokyo Olympics
Canadian athletes with experience competing at the BC Winter or BC Summer Games, or for Team BC at the Canada Games played a part in 6 of Team Canada's 24 medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Eleven of Team Canada's 51 BC Games and Team BC alumni came home with hardware, while many more inspired the nation with memorable performances.

Led by Co-Flag Bearer Nathan Hirayama, 51 BC Games and Team BC alumni set to compete at the Tokyo Olympics are able to attribute their first multisport experience to their developmental years in BC. These athletes and coaches are a living testament of the important role the BC Games and Canada Games play in the athlete development pathway to the highest levels of competition.
Revamped Team BC Games Prep Program Set to Launch
Team BC and Canadian Sport Institute Pacific partner on the Team BC Games Prep Program. First announced in March 2020, the revamped progam launches July 5, 2021 with additional services and resources for athletes and coaches preparing for the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara August 6-21.

Gord Collings Field Named After Team BC Softball Coach
UBC is honoring Thunderbirds coach and former Team BC coach Gord Collings with a field in his name to recognize a lifetime dedicated to the game of softball in B.C. The Gord Collings Field will be the new home of the UBC Thunderbirds, making it possible for the softball team to run their program on-campus.
Two Team BC Coaches Receive Coaching Excellence Awards
On November 5, 2020, the Coaching Association of Canada™ (CAC) in partnership with Petro-Canada recognized 23 coaches from 10 sports at a virtual celebration of the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala. Two of the recipients from B.C. are former Team BC manager, Curt DeWolff, and coach, Richard Wooles.

The 18-year-old Team BC Judo athlete from Prince George was choked out in the gold medal match at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, something she had never experienced before.
“I came into this match going for gold,” she said. “I really, really wanted it, not just for myself but for everyone who was there with me and for Prince George.”

Double bronze in badminton for B.C.

The team of Duncan Yao (19, Richmond) and Joshua Liu (18, Vancouver) battled their way to the podium in the bronze medal match of the men’s doubles, beating team Manitoba in three sets.
Surrey’s James Ho, 17, also won bronze in the men’s individual match.
