Cross country hits podium five times, badminton advances to medal rounds

Tuesday was another big day for Team BC’s cross country skiers as they posted five podium performances, that in addition to the three medals the team earned on Monday.

Colin Ferrie of Kimberley won his first medal of the Games, skiing to gold in the 1.5km classic sprint.

Patience, hard work and dedication are the keys to Shaikh’s success

When Abdul Shaikh landed in Toronto he had 80 dollars in his pocket, two suitcases, two children, and his number one supporter by his side, his wife. 

The year was 1967 and Shaikh was one of India’s premiere badminton players. Nearly 50 years later, he has become one of B.C.’s most celebrated coaches in the sport. The Canada Games Council inducted him into its 2015 Hall of Honour class on Feb. 12, recognizing his dedication to sport, as well as his excellence and leadership.

Team BC concludes successful 2015 Western Canada Summer Games with trophy win

Team BC topped the medal count and flag points and won the Western Canada Summer Games Trophy for the 11th consecutive time.

Team BC take 280 medals as 2015 Western Canada Summer Games close

After 10 days of competition at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray, Alta. BC wrapped up competition Sunday with a medal total of 134 gold, 86 silver, 61 bronze and a grand total of 280 medals won.

Team BC names Jesse Shade Flag Bearer for closing ceremony

Campbell River’s Jesse Shade, captured five gold medals in the pool for Team BC and will carry the flag during the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games closing ceremony at 5pm on Sunday August 16.
