Ladies’ ski cross leads the way at Tabor Mountain

By Julianne Zussman, Team BC Mission Staff

Team BC dominated the course at Tabor Mountain in the first round of ski cross at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.  The ladies claimed the top four spots in the qualification round, led by Katie Fleckenstein (West Vancouver), Nicole Mah (Vancouver), Brooke Lukinuk (Kelowna) and Sierra King (West Vancouver).  Their speedy times have put them in a position to contend for medals starting tomorrow.

In ski cross, the top 32 male and female skiers qualify to continue in the final alpine event of the Games.  The top seeds will be pitted against the lower seeds, and the top two from each heat advance to the quarterfinal.

All thirteen Team BC skiers who competed are going through to the next round.  On the men’s side Team BC was led by Devin Mittertreiner (Calgary) in second, Kyle Alexander (North Vancouver) in third and Ryan Finley (Calgary) in fifth place respectively.

Catch this thrilling sport in action at Tabor Mountain starting tomorrow at 10 a.m.
