Goodbye and Hello! |
Week one is in the books and we couldn’t be more proud of our Team BC athletes and coaches. With 61 medals and many more personal bests and team wins, we were incredibly proud of the performances on the field of play. But, more importantly we saw Team BC athletes and coaches being true ambassadors for our province.
Here are some performance highlights from week one:

- 6 medals in Triathlon including three gold for Desirae Ridenour
- 14 medals for Rowing with a medal in every event for a total of 5 gold, 8 silver, and 1 bronze
- 6 medals in Diving with Victoria’s Bryden Hattie leading the way with three silvers
- 3 medals in Mountain Bike including gold for the men’s relay team of Squamish athletes Holden Jones, Rhys Verner, and Sean Fincham

Enjoy the Experience - Advice from Week One athletes |
As members of Team BC settle into the Athletes’ Village and get ready to head into competition on Monday, athletes from the first week of competition offer their advice.
“Definitely enjoy it. It’s a great opportunity,” said Kaila Butler (Port Coquitlam), who won gold in hammer throw on Friday evening. “Watch as many other sports as you can, if your events allow it. And just enjoy it. It only happens once for some athletes. It’s something you are going to remember for the rest of your life.”
