The ladies of Team BC curling took on Team Nunavut and North West Territories today in their first games of the competition.

B.C.’s para cross country athletes posted impressive results at the Canada Winter Games on Monday, winning two gold and one silver medal. 

Revelstoke’s Emily Suchy won gold in the 2.5km sit-ski event. Her teammate Andy Lin of Burnaby also won gold in the 2.5km standing classic para male event. North Vancouver’s Emily Weekes took silver in the 2.5km standing classic para female race.

With little more than a month to go in career that spanned 34 years and took him from his home in Montreal to the Yukon, Ottawa and finally to Prince George, RCMP Chief Superintendent Rod Booth and a group of dedicated officers took some time out of their schedules to make the 2015 Canada Winter Games a little bit more special for Team BC athletes.

Training kicked off today for Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games table tennis event in Prince George.

Seven athletes from B.C.’s north combined for a total of 10 medals during week one of the 2015 Canada Winter Games, helping propel Team BC into third place in the medal standings, with a total of 41 at the mid-point of the Games. 

Week one has come to a close with a very successful performance from Team BC.  With 41 medals, Team BC sits third in the medal count, three behind Ontario and two ahead of Alberta.  Quebec leads the medal standings with 83 medals.

If there is one thing assistant captain Shannon Morris-Reade will take away from the 2015 Canada Winter Games, it’s a reminder to enjoy the moment.

Team BC biathletes had a big day in the team relay events.  The ladies took gold and the men raced a tough race, finishing fourth overall.
