Identical twin sisters, Megan and Nicole McNamara (Delta) have had a great start at the Canada Games Beach Volleyball competition. With wins over Saskatchewan and PEI on day one followed by another win over Manitoba on day two the girls are feeling confident. A loss to home team Quebec on day three has lined them up for a quarter final match against Nova Scotia on Thursday.
The twins grew up playing beach volleyball while their family travelled in Mexico. Just 16 years old, they are competing in a 21 and under category which means they are up against athletes who may be five years older than they are. No stranger to the podium, Nicole and Megan have won the U16 and U18 provincial and national beach championships.
Despite their young age, Nicole and Megan are committed athletes who train with the Side Out Beach Volleyball Club.
