The Team BC mission staff has been selected to lead the provincial team competing at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.
Chef de Mission, Rob Needham, will lead the team of mission staff members who will provide administrative, logistical, and performance preparation support for the athletes and coaches attending the Games. This is Needham’s second time as Team BC’s Chef de Mission having led the team at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in addition to his extensive international Games experience with the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
“Mission staff are essential to our athletes’ success, ensuring their needs are taken care of so they can excel in competition and realize their potential,” said Coralee Oakes, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. “Team BC mission staff have a legacy of excellence, winning the Claude Hardy award last year at the Sherbrooke Canada Summer Games for their dedication and talent. I congratulate all mission staff members on their selection to Team BC.”
The Canada Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer and are a key step in the development of Canada’s amateur athletes. The Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games marks the first time British Columbia has hosted the Canada Winter Games. Team BC will send 350 athletes, coaches, support staff, and mission staff to the Games which take place February 13 to March 1, 2015.
“We have assembled an incredible team of proven leaders whose dedication and commitment will ensure Team BC is optimally prepared to support our athletes and coaches in performing at their best on home turf at the 2015 Canada Winter Games,” said Needham.
The mission staff team is beginning preparations now and will work for the next 11 months to ensure Team BC is ready for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
