Today the archers took part in the second qualification round. Points accumulated will go used for seeding for the elimination rounds, which begin tomorrow (Feb 28).
The day began with the men’s and women’s recurve event, where BC was represented by Adi Shapira (Vancouver) and Adam Deane (Delta).
Shapira closed out the day with a score of 525, bettering her score of 503 achieved yesterday by 22 points. Her combined score secures her a spot in tomorrow’s quarterfinal event, awaiting news on her opponent based on the morning’s preliminary rounds.
Deane completed his round with a score of 523 today, which, based on his combined score from yesterday and today’s round, has him seeded in the directly into the quarterfinal where he will face Manitoba’s Kadin Giebelhaus.
The afternoon was host to the second round of the men’s and women’s compound qualifications. Spencer Gamache (Quesnel) saw some great success today, achieving a result of 571, seeing an 11 point increase from his score yesterday (560). This result left Gamache in 4th spot of the qualification round. He’ll shoot in the preliminary round tomorrow morning against Northwest Territories’ Bailey Johnston, which will determine who proceeds into the quarterfinal round. Emma Chylinski (North Vancouver) shot a 555 today in the women’s compound qualification event. Her combined score from round 1 and 2 of qualification have her facing Nova Scotia’s Ashely Hamel in the preliminary round.
