Team BC skied to two more medals in freestyle at the big air event.
Skye Clarke (Vancouver) won her second medal in as many days with her round 1 jump score of 83.40 in the big air finals. While she took gold on Wednesday at the slopestyle event, she stood on the podium for a silver medal today.
“Im pretty excited about winning two medals in two days. My qualifying runs were pretty good, but I think I was better in the finals,” said Clarke, who did a switch right 720 in her winning run.
Josephine Howell (Mount Currie) captured bronze on her first jump in the women’s big air finals with a score of 80.20. Howell landed a cork 720 mute and a cork 720 truck driver.
“Im super excited. I had a really fund day. I learned some new tricks and got to hang out with my best friend. All around it was a really fun day,” said Howell.
Caoimhe Heavey (Fernie) finished just off the podium in fourth place, her top score coming in her first run at 69.40.
All three athletes said they were happy with their performance.
In the men’s big air event competition, Ben Lynch was sitting on the bubble to qualify for finals until the last competitor pushed him out to 14th overall.
On Friday, Team BC will compete in the half pipe qualifications and finals at COP in Calgary as their final event of the 2019 Canada Winter Games.
