Team BC boxers got off to an incredible start at the 2019 Canada Winter Games on Sunday night.
Brayden Sims (Fort St. John) started the evening off with a 5-0 decision over Noah Squires from Newfoundland and Labrador in the 60 kilogram event. That was followed up by Dylan Clark (Cranbrook) taking a 4-1 decision over Tristan Deveau from Alberta in the 69 kg event. Jonathan Hannah (North Vancouver) then took on Estéban Nadeau from Quebec in the 75 kg event, where he took the decision 5-0. Brayden Hellekson (Nelson) then wrapped up in the evening for Team BC in the 81 kg event, defeating his opponent Josh Peck from Alberta after one round when the referee stopped the contest.
Jerome Leroy (Nanaimo) had the day off in the 64 kg event as he received a bye to the second round. Parsa Bisheh (North Vancouver) did not start in the 56 kg event.
Next up for the Team BC boxers is the second round of bouts on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at Westerner Park.
