On February 15, 2019, the first day of official practice in Red Deer, Biathlon was left to make some choices. Training was cancelled due to weather conditions; measuring -27 with windchill. Instead, the Team BC biathletes traveled up to River Bend Golf & Recreation Area and went for a ski in the morning cold.
Coaches, Jessica Blenkarn and Clay Whitman, and ski tech Ron Metza, put in some hard work this morning waxing all their athletes' skis - over 24 pairs required to brave the conditions.
Following the excitement of the morning, the biathletes attended the Team BC Pep Rally and the 2019 Canada Games Opening Ceremony.
Next action: Saturday February 16 - combined official training and dry firing practice. First competition will take place on February 17.
