Team BC off to the gold medal game in women's softball
Team BC posted a 3-1 victory over Ontario in the first game of the championship round Saturday at Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

The win puts BC into the gold medal game to be held Sunday morning at John Blumberg Softball Park.

BC came out strong at the plate, loading the bases in the first inning and then Taylor Lundrigan (Abbotsford) hit a frozen rope to left centre to drive in two. Lundrigan followed up with another hard shot in the third inning to score again. That's all BC needed to secure the victory.

BC pitcher Julia Wright (Langley) was solid, going the distance and only surrending one run on four hits. This was her sixth win of the tournament.

BC lost just one game during pool play. That was to Ontario on Thursday.  BC's record was 8-1 in pool play.

BC's opponent Sunday will be the winner of a game late Saturday between Ontario and Alberta.
