Quotes
OWEN, John (Victoria) - Silver in Laser

On his Canada Games experience
"I am very happy with my experience at Canada Games “ It was fun staying at the Village at the school. You don’t get that at every regatta”

On his performance
"I am happy with my placing. It started pretty deep on the first day but the wind came up for a few.If I had more races I would have had a good chance of getting two points back” [for first] but I am happy with my placing."

On what's next
“After Canada Games I have a regatta in Halifax that I am looking forward to -- youth nationals. I will also be taking a year off school and work and sail some more. Hopefully I will be able to make it to bigger regattas next year like the under 21 worlds”

BUGEJA, Emily (North Vancouver) -- Bronze medal in double-handed 28er.
On being at the Canada Games
"It was a lot of fun. I met a lot of new people I made a lot of new friends. It was nice to meet a lot of people that I will definitely see again.

On winning a bronze medal
"It was a tough regatta between the top three. I am pretty proud of how we sailed, we had good decisions, good moments. I learned that good starts are important and watch the shifts on the water."

SMITH, Hannah (Surrey) -- Bronze medal in double-handed 28er.
On being at the Canada Games
"I have been sailing this boat for five months,  so it is kind of surprising that I even got to come. I was disappointed that we did not get to race the last day,  but it was exciting and new."

On what's next
“I am going to go back and train so hard. Then, we are going to youth worlds and we will be representing Canada. So, I am super excited about that."

SMITHMAN, Josh (Surrey)
On his Canada Games experience
“We had the best mission staff and it was neat to see all the pin trading and other athletes. It was all done so professionally, I really appreciate that. Coming out here and having close races helped us learn a lot."

PARKER, Henrik (North Vancouver)
On being at a previous Canada Games as a baby, with his mother (a sailing coach)
"The other Canada Games I went to, I was only one year old, I am glad that this one, I can remember."

On sailing at the Canada Games
"It's a close competition. We learned a lot.  You roll the dice and hope for the best. We sailed tactically to have better consistency.  I want to keep improving and never stop the learning streak.
You roll the dice and hope for the best, but, we sailed tactically to have better consistency."

HULME-LAWRENCE, Delani (Victoria)
On her experience in Gimli
"This is my second Canada Summer Games. This experience was different as we stayed in the main Athletes' Village last time, so we had to shuttle back and forth. Having the Athletes' Village close by was great so that we could have more time preparing our boats."

On racing at the Canada Games

"It is literally race to race every race and one race can make a huge difference for the better or for the worse."
