Quotes
4 x 100m women’s relay – GOLD (Time: 45.73)
LUCAS, Katherine (Vancouver)
On running the anchor leg
“It was super fun and I was super excited that we had a good chance at medalling. I really wanted that gold. When I got that baton, I just ran and it worked out. So, I am happy with that.”

NIJJAR, Jasneet (Surrey)
On trying to get the lead on the third leg of the relay
“I saw that she was ahead of me thought I’ve got catch her.  We were close, when I handed it off to her (Katherine Lucas, anchor)”

KABIA, Valda (Surrey)
On her leg of the race

“My exchange to Jasneet was a little bit rocky, but the first exchange was good. But we got it done.  We all worked together.  It feels really good [to win gold].”

VOLOSHIN, Diana (Vancouver)
On starting the relay
“I will admit, I was nervous and kind of shaking in the beginning because I don’t do relay very often. But I trusted my teammates.”

CHATTEN, Eric (Coquitlam) – 4th men’s high jump (cleared 2.08m)

On his finish
“I come fourth a lot, so I am used to it. I would like to be on the podium, but that’s just how it goes.”

On being at the Canada Games

“I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Meeting people from around the country. It’s a good time.”

JARRON, Lukas (Vancouver) – SILVER men’s 1500 m (Time: 3:55.27)

On his race
“My goal was to go the front from the start. I did that. It was kind of tactical. I was trying to lead the race.  I was at the front and someone went. I took off and at 200, I turned it on. I felt pretty good, but I started to tie up a bit in the last 50 metres. The Saskatoon guy had more in the tank than me today. I am happy with a silver medal.”

On being part of Team BC

“It’s really cool. There’s a lot of my UBC teammates here. I am meeting people from the other schools in BC. I feel a lot closer with the track community in my province now and am not just in my little bubble. I like cheering everyone on from all over the province.”

RENAERTS, Yeshi (Chilliwack) – SILVER in both 400m and 1500m women’s wheelchair

On winning two silver medals
“I feel pretty good. I ready for tomorrow (Friday) and to keep it going.”

“It’s been awesome. It is so much fun. Everyone’s so happy. It’s great to be here.”

CHAMPOUX, Megan (Aldergrove) GOLD women’s 400 m hurdles
On her race
“I am beyond excited. I was a little worried going into the second corner. But I just knew to run my own race and when it was time to kick it, it worked out. There was good competition out there.”

On winning gold
“It’s a great feeling and i was really really happy to end this way with a PB. It’s been a rough season with injuries. So, I am thrilled to end it with a win and a PB!”
