Team BC soccer takes the win over Team NL in their first match of the Games
Team BC women’s soccer took the win against Team Newfoundland & Labrador in their first match of the 2017 Canada Games.

BC had the majority of the possession for the first half but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

5 minutes into the second half, Saje Brar (Surrey) nearly took the lead for BC, but she was called back on a questionable offside.

Brar (Surrey) kept attacking, but her poor luck continued when she hit the goalpost on a glorious chance in the 58th minute when a deflected ball landed right at her feet at the edge of the 18.

BC was relentless on the attack and kept pounding away at the NL defense. They hit their third post of the match in the 65th minute off a beautiful corner by team captain Emma Regan (Burnaby)

BC finally broke through NL’s formation in the 72nd minute when Teagan Mackay (North Vancouver) snuck a shot under the bar to give BC a 1-0 lead they hold onto until the end of the match.

Final Score: 1-0 BC
