Softball BC names 15 athletes to Team BC for Canada Summer Games
Softball BC is pleased to announce the athletes who have been selected to represent Team BC Men’s Softball at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
The roster has been finalized after 50 athletes attended three identification camps held in Surrey and Prince George starting in September 2016.
The 2017 team includes Josh Anderson (Surrey), Brendon Donegan (Agassiz) and Head Coach Kevin Weir (Victoria) who won bronze for Team BC at the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games. Josh Anderson was also part of the gold medal winning team at the 2014 North American Indigenous Games along with Tyson Ghostkeeper and Nicholas Potskin of Prince George.
The 2017 North American Indigenous Games will take place in Toronto just prior to the Canada Summer Games. Tyson Ghostkeeper (Prince George) and Isaac Goodwill (Chilliwack) will represent Team BC at both Games.
Softball BC President, Jake DeWitt said, “Softball BC is extremely pleased with the progress to date made by the coaching staff for the men’s team. We are confident the final group, selected by Head Coach Kevin Weir and his staff will be strong contenders at the Canada Summer Games. By working closely with the group representing BC at the NAIG, we expect BC men’s softball to challenge for top results in Winnipeg.”
The team is actively training leading up to the Games which run from July 28 to August 13. The men’s softball tournament will take place at John Blumberg Softball Complex during the first week of the Games.
